Depends which light I suppose - here is how I changed the lights for the AirCon buttons in my 2003 607... my car has the fake wood veneer on the dash, but these instructions may also be useful to people with cars lacking veneer...

1. Remove the veneer panel in the upper centre of the dash - This is the veneer panel which surrounds the Hazard Lights switch and the radio/date/time display panel. The piece you need to take out comes with the two vents above this display and the buttons (MENU / MODE / ESC) below it. NB: - don't take out all the veneer here, just the central part, and leave the outer veneer edge in place. You take out the central section simply by pulling it - there are no screws, but you have to pull on the vent tabs and then get your fingers behind the veneer edge.

2. When you have this piece out (you can disconnect the cable at the rear if you need more space), then remove the AirCon section by reaching inside the hole you have just created in the dash, putting you fingers downwards towards the top of the AirCon unit, and press a clip on the top-centre of the AirCon section to release it from the dash.

3. Disconnect the three coloured connectors (blue, yellow and brown) at the rear of the AirCon unit by unclipping the rotating black clips holding them in place.

4. Now that you have the freed AirCon unit in your hand, you can see four identical black 'studs' - 2 above and 2 below - in the rear of the unit - These are the bulb holders - twist each one a quarter turn (anti-clockwise I think) and the holder and bulb come out together. Might as well replace all four (even if some are working) to save you having to open up the dash again soon.

5. Reverse steps outlined above to replace everything again.

many thanks for your commentsa I really do appreciate your help.

But, this was my first time at this sort of thing and obviously I need to be more precise,
because the bulb that has gone is on the main dashboard behind the water temperature
gauge.

Hi there! If you already have fixed your dashboard's light, congrats! If bnt, I can tell you how to fix it. There is a small hole on the top side of the unit, but be carefull, because if you do not have the "peugeot" tools to take out the instruments board, it may crack so, I will describe a safer way.
1 You will have to remobv the veneer under the wheel
2 Now you can put your hand behind the dashboard, and thru the hole you can easily crush out the whole dashboard.
Good luck!
