hi i have a 52 plate peugeot 307sw 110hdi  with 80k on the clock. i had a new dual mass flywheel fitted at 16k under warranty about 4 years ago(was squeaking when switching off) but i know these flywheels are not great and have been known to fail again. i have always been a bit paranoid of it  going again out of warranty as we all know they are not cheap. i was checking over my car in workshop(iam a landrover master tech) and got someone else to switch off the car while i listened for any squeak or rattle from the flywheel area(told you i was paranoid!) after the engine has stopped there is a slight knock from the bell housing area you would not notice anything if you are in the car only if you were standing in front of the vehicle. if someone has their foot on the clutch then it does not do it.  There is no squeak when turning off the vehicle or idling .just wondered if there is any peugeot techs or experienced people to add there thoughts

cheers

Hi

if you lightly press the clutch with the engine running ( at the top of travel) then if it starts to knock it indicates a worn , time to replace flywheel!!

the squeaking whilst switching off i would not worry about , ive had loads do this and as long as it doesnt get significantley louder in my experiance it can go on for ages 20 to 30  thou , its not really pointing at a worn DMF
