hi guys, im new to the forum, i own a Peugeot 206 1.1 (04), 40k miles. Having the following issues:

Car cuts out occasionally whilst driving, everything just goes dead

Engine management light comes on occasionally, comes on for a second or 2 and goes off

Recently, the sidelights on the right hand side of car stopped working (front and back), i checked all the fuses and they were fine, then last night, the lights all of a sudden started to work, not knowing when i turned the car off and taken keys out of ignition, the front right side light, the rear right sidelight and the number plate lights remain on constantly. I now have to disconnect the battery to stop it draining as the lights are constantly on....im thinking earth problem?

The center console heater lights stopped working, but again it started working suddenly last night and now remain on constantly

I am guessing ECU problem? if so/not is this going to be expensive to fix? as if we are talking thousands im not sure what to do Sad

Any information/help would be appreicated. thankyou

hi,,

have you had any checks carried out on this?
any fault codes?
why do you think ecu?
the side lights could be simply bulbs/contacts?
you need to have some decent diag carried out on this..
perhaps post location, someone maybe able to help.

thanks for the reply mate, our nearest Peugeot dealership are asking 120 to put it on the diagnostic machine to find out the problems, so basically trying to find out somewhere cheaper at the moment. Ive gone through many threads that have had the same problems im having, its come down to these possible causes:

ECU
BSI unit
Comm2000

Ive stripped all the lights off the car and found all the earths, cleaned them all out, then checked all the wiring, put the lights back in and the problem is still there Sad I was told maybe water got into the electrics as the windscreen resovoir is very near the light electrics and maybe water spilled over when filling the tank (which i think was a stupid idea by peugoet to put the tank near the electrics!) into the wiring.

We have also been told even if the ECU is replaced that it will bound to break again in the near future.....all this is making my gf and myself thinking to fix the car and ger rid of it...i honestly didn't know french electrics were so bad Sad

did an diagnostics on the car, gave the following fault codes:

P0606 PCM Processor Fault
P0204 Injection Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder 4
P0201 Injection Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder 1
P0351 Ignition Coil A Primary/Seconday Circuit Malfunction

So gathered this isnt an ECU failure.....also after further reading into it if i get the injections 1 and 4 fixed, the processor fault should disappear....not idea about the ignition coil fault!

Now this morning the brake lights are constantly staying on! any ideas guys?

Computer problems like this are always odd. I went mental with my old Rover because of the gremlins in the system.

I would get those problems fixed... they are certainly things which you can do yourself very easily so save the garage costs!
