Morning all.

I have 2004 '53 206 1.4HDi.

I was listening to the radio whilst cleaning the car yesterday - and the radio shut down and the little display now highlighs the Eco-Mode Status? Since this has appeared I have not been able to start the car, it cranks over as per usual but No fire. The fuel pump doesnt seem to be priming.

I have audio and electric window control but no control of - lights - fans - wipers (front and rear) central locking. Oddly though, when I put the key into the ignition and turn to position 1 and 2 the side lights come on?!

I have checked for inertia switch (not present) the shunt fuse in the bsi is ok...and pretty much stuck from here!!

Any help (quickly) would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi rossi55,
Sounds like a bsi problem....But its hard to say... Confused
Just to see if your key is recognised  by the bsi....Maybe ty this..
1.get into car.
2.put key in the ignition.
3.turn to crank engine.
4.turn off ignition fully leave key in ignition.
5.open the drivers door and you should hear the
reminder alarm/beeping to remove your key from the ignition.
If you cannot here this alarm then your key may not be recognised and the
engine will not start..... Sad
It really needs a diagnostic session to get to the bottom of it....Where are you based as there are a few members here whom have Peugeot Planet (Peugeots diagnostic equipment)
Ron.

Ive got the same problem, changed the timing belt on my 2005 1.4 206  HDI today, did everything by the book, timing pins through the flywheel and camshaft sproket, fitted the new belt, turned the engine through 10 revolutions, checked the timing, everything spot on, put it all back together, went to start it, starter motor turns, but engine wont fire. I have seen a thread on here that says it might be camshaft sensor, so took the sensor out, replaced it with another one, still nothing, took the sensor that I had removed from this vehicle, put it in another 206 HDI, that started first time, so its not the sensor. Anyone any ideas what else it could be? Ive done the belt on another 206 HDI about 4 months ago and didnt have any problems. The display is reading ECO MODE, but ive done the check with the key in the ignition and it bleeps when you open the door, so the key is being recognised.

Ive plugged in a reader and ive got a P0344 code coming up.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Fault code relates to camshaft sensor intermitant fault or open circuit i would think this is from wher you have had it un pluged . I would suggest checking crank sensor is located in its housing and that the fuel pump is timed as it should be hope this helps
