HI ANYONE
i have recently bought a dvd headunit screen for my peugeot 205 and am looking on where to put it as it will not have room to fold out (being motorised) in the standard place.
i have been wandering for a long time if i was to cut the hole in the dash on passenger side above the little (dont know what you call it) shelf i suppose on top of the dashboard is there anything behind this? i would need about 4/5 inches for my screens depth?
Thankyou |

lol i had the same problem i bought a dvd headunit and tried to fit it to find the screen wouldnt fit so i spent two whole days trying to fit this b***ard of a problem,
in the end i found the best way to to go if you can do it is through the air vents in the top centre of the dash. i will post a picture of what mine looks like in a few days... hope this helps... |

Ha wiring was a nightmare i had to feed the wires through the smallest of holes underneath the right of the glovebox!!!
i found the best way was to feed some stiff wire through then attatch that to the radio wires and pull them through slowly.
now i havent blocked the vents of as such yet but eventually i will just tape it all up using alluminium tape but there is another problem i have come across...
the air vent hole is slightly too big for the stereo head unit. but thats easily fixed the air vents that you pull out can be cut to slot round the head unit.
jus one more thing, this means there is a big open gap where the radio should be, so if anyone knows where i can get a blanking panel from i would be most grateful.
will get some pictures for you all in the next few days.
a question for you pug 205 mmmm, does your stereo have a hide away unit?? if so get back to me... |

| Could you rework the air vents to exit through the old stereo hole? You'd need something to fill the gap where they used to be though, unless you get some more vents from a scrappy. |

| Just a really amateur and stupid question but if i was to do the above what would i do about the heating itself? wouldnt the headunit be in full blown heat when i turned it on? |

yes the stereo does get a bit hot but not hot enough for any problems to occur. but as i said before if you are worried about the heat damaging the stereo then either keep the heater on warm instead of hot or block the middle vents right at the back with some alluminium tape.
no i havent found any way of making the air flow come through the original stereo slot unless i took the whole car apart and turned the matrix upside down, instead i am going to purchase a blanking slot ( autoleads part no. fp007) and cut holes in it for some switches for lights etc.
and for the hideaway unit i mean its a seperate box that like the brains of the stereo. but im guessing you havent got one or you would know what it was as its written on the box itself lol
sorry bout no pics at the mo i keep forgetting and my car isnt here to take any now. |

the only thing if you use the vent slot is the fact the the heater box is behind it so it means you will need to saw through it... will get some pics to show ya the front and behind it this weekend.
it should take a week, i did half of it one sunday then the other half the next sunday....
i asked if you had a hide away unit because it can go neatly under the passenger seat and its easy enough to put the wires under the carpet!! |
