power steering problem

hi i have a 2005 peugeot 307cc and the power steering went heavy as i was driving could hardly turn it got it home checked fuse and maxi fuse and fuse was good put car on peugeot planet and got this fault
power steering
           permanent fault. Electropump assembly motor . Mechanical blockage

before i change the pump is there anything else it could be or could be fixed

I had exact same problem with mine. If I turned engine off and started again, it would be ok. But repeated itself. So got a second hand pump and fitted it in about 20 mins. Been fine since. No need to remove bumper, you can get to all bolts with wheel off.
