The headlights on my  307 Hdi90 2007 keep switching themselves on.
Sometimes it will happen perhaps once a day on other occasions it can happen as often as three times in a distance of 500 yards.
I then have to rotate the stalk switch to switch them off.

Has anyone experienced this problem and if so how was it cured?

Hi, welcome to the forum -
Sounds familiar does this one, I have one just like it!
The problem is likely to be that the unit behind the steering wheel with both stalks on it (known as a com2000) is not just a set of simple switches with wires going to the lights , wipers etc, but is a complete control unit which is linked to the cars main brain (the built in systems interface or BSI), and communicates with the BSI on a data link with codes to tell the BSI to switch on lights, wipers etc, and also controls the horn, drivers airbag and any other functions your car may have which you can operate from the stalks. The stalk switches are notorius for going wonky, and if one of the switches gets loose or the internal wiring in the com2000 go on the blink, the com200 ends up sending a code to the BSI which it does not understand, so figures the com2000 is faulty and seems to revert to a safe state by switching the headlights on, and for some reason stopping the indicators working (does yours do this too?)

There is sort of good news and bad here, the bad news being that a new com2000 unit from a dealer could be 300 + just for the part, and maybe around the 150-200 mark for a reconditioned unit, and If your car has ABS and ESP on it it will need to be set up by someone with the dealer diagnostic system after fitting, but the good news is that if it is doing the same thing as mine, then I discovered that if I switch the side lights on, everything works fine, headlights don't go on and off and thr indicators keep working, so I just drive round with side lights on!
Not perfect I know, but it's cheap!!
Have a try to see what happens, and let us know how you get on.

Hope this helps,

Many thanks for your reply.

On return to my local Peugeot garage where the car is serviced I showed them your response and they agreed to look into the problem again.  I told them that the problem had only started to occur after the last service.

Fortunately Peugeot identified the fault---exactly as you had stated---and said that it appeared that an earlier recall for this fault in the software had been over-ridden by the latest update and in the circumstances would there would be no charge!!!

Thanks for your help.
