I looked up my Mototek master code manual and the codes are as follows;   PO221 ``throttle position sensor `B` circuit,   PO226  ``throttle position sensor switch `C` circuit, range performance,   PO571  Brake switch `A` circuit, PO704 ``clutch switch input circuit``.   so to unscramble all this you probably have a faulty potentiometer (throttle) switch mounted on the throttle body or a bad electrical connection to same which would cause the fault you described.            The brake/clutch switch codes are probably unrelated to the acceleration fault, are your brake lights working? They are usually controlled by a plunger switch high up on the brake pedal, this might be faulty, or bad connection to same. The clutch switch has me stumped, have a look up the driver`s footwell to see if there is a switch fitted to the pedal. It`s easier to access these if you take out the driver`s seat, only 4bolts. Hope this helps....Mike.

I just remembered, on most vehicles nowadays the brake light switch also sends a signal to the ECU (engine computer) when the pedal is depressed and ECU in turn cuts off the fuelling to the injectors, as an economy/anti-pollution measure, so even if the brake lights work normally the switch could still be faulty, and if you find a switch on the clutch pedal it could be part of the plot. Suggest you renew the potentiometer first, clear the fault codes and see if 571 and 704 re-appear after a few days driving.......Mike.

If you were a wee bit careless connecting up the new battery, like sparking the terminals against the battery posts, you might have sent a glitch to the ECU, which does`nt like being spiked. First disconnect the battery for half an hour and let the electronics `rest`. Then reconnect it , trying to avoid any sparking as you do it, then drive the car normally for half an hour, by which time the ECU might have re-learned its parameters. If the MIL lamp stays out all should be well, if not read the codes again. You may have to repeat the procedure several times to get a result, but it`s preferable to a trip to rip-off main dealer for a software upgrade.......good luck, Mike.
