Hello all,
First post time!
My wife owns an X-reg (2000) plate 206. We are getting a whining / whistle sound from the fan belt. We have tried multiple belts plus a new top pully with little success.
I am currently driving it on the motorway to try and "bed" the latest belt to see if that works. It warms up and the noise does go eventually.
Any ideas - anyone else suffered a similar or same issue please?

Hi, have you confirmed that the noise is only apparent with aux' (fan) belt attached (run the engine without it fitted) ?
Have you spun all pulleys by hand (alternator etc) to check for dry sound/rough bearing ?

Update:
The Aux pulley has been replaced - noise still there.
Spray a little WD40 it goes quiet for a small moment.
The mechanic has tried a few fan belts - this one is 5 ribbed - anyone got any experience with different belts or different pulleys?
