Hi All

I am about to order some rear brake discs and pads for my 307, there seams to be a couple of different types - Lucas/Bosch, can anyone please tell me which I should be ording..?  Is there any way of telling from the brake caliper?

03 Peugeot 307 2.0 HDI Rapier 90 BHP

Also my horn doesnt work unless I give the steering wheel a bash, then it will work intermittantly.  From what ive researched this may have something to do with the COM2000 indicator and horn beneath the airbag, has anyone else suffered from this problem and any advise on how to fix it..!

Thanks for looking

Regards

If it makes you any better my horn does exactly the same thing, but had a big accident in mine though and I thought it may be related.  Peugeot are looking at mine on Thursday to see if it falls under the garentee.

I have the 1.6 rapier 307.  Sorry I know it does not solve anything but did not like to leave you on your own lol

horn is quite possibly an earth fault. if you look around here there are a few helpful threads on how to fix.

discs & pads? if you talk to a decent garage/dealer they can tell you exactly what you need. tbh, GSF could even sell em to ya.

Thanks for the advise, I am going to remove the airbag and see if I can find the fault, as for the brakes, I shall take the wheel off again and look for any signs.

call GSF and quote

'i need brake discs and pads for 03 Peugeot 307 2.0 HDI Rapier 90 BHP

doubt you'll be able to tell by taking the wheel off, even looking at the discs wont help.

Ok I took the airbag off..!

Whoever noted a faulty earth for the horn electrics was right, the earth is a very bad design as it seams to just clip into the steering wheel and is very flimsy.  I sanded the contacts a little and made it more secure, this has fixed the problem for now, If this happens again I shall secure the earth properly by drilling into the wheel and clamping the contact in-place.

Should any others have this fault:

1 - Disconnect the battery (20-mins before working on the airbag)
2 - Use a screwdriver in the two holes behind the steering wheel to release the airbag.
3 - Black wire which clips into the steering wheel I believe is the earth - remove, clean, and re-secure.
4 - Re-attach airbag and connect battery.

I had no problems by disconnecting my battery, all central locking/radio/ECU etc works fine.

Regarding the rear brakes - I think they are the Lucas caliper, the pads have a spring attached at the top, from the pictures I have seen via googling, these are the Lucas/Girling design.
The Bosch caliper pads dont have the spring (I think)...!

Hope this helps others.

Smile
