Well  my wife's had 18000 km on the clock and started beeping and clutch slipping.Mostly driven in a small town with not much traffic in Greece.Peugeot dealers wanted 750 euros, but i fixed it with 300 euros with aftermarket Aisin clutch set.The car is 2 tronic.

Hi!

Sorry for reviving this thread.

I've got a 107 2-tronic with 76,000 km to date. Recently, I've noticed a loss of power. My service mechanic noticed it too. My fuel consumption's also gone up without any change to my driving habits.

However, I've had no warning light or sound come on.

A visit to the authorised dealer resulted in a large quote to have the gear box opened up. I don't really trust them because they rather replace everything wholesale than troubleshoot. Their rationale - "better safe than sorry." Which is fine if you have loads of cash! I rather talk to them knowing what might be wrong, what my options might be, rather than trusting them completely.

How do you know if it's just the clutch kit that has to be replaced, and not something more serious?

Can any mechanic replace the clutch set or does it require special training/experience?

Thanks!

Has anyone actually approached peugeot HQ with this problem?

Mine has also just gone at 50k. Again with the beeping noise from the accelerator and my peugeot garage are going to open her up and see if there's a fault with the box. If there is they are going to have to re-think the £709 that I was quoted today to fix the problem. That includes labour, clutch kit and oil etc along with VAT.

I am considering voicing my concerns to peugeot HQ maybe we should all contact them as this seems a very common problem. Perhaps too common?

Hello,

Just letting you know that my wife has just found out that her clutch has gone. When I took it to my mechanic, he had a look at the car mileage to find that the car had only done less than 13K, he was stunned!!. And asked me why we bought a Peugeot??. Well it's not really a Peugeot, as its built by toyota, the company who thrive themselves being reliable.

After researching the internet there seems to be an abundance of cases that show the clutch going between 10k-20k and peugeot dealers charging on average £600-£950 to replace the clutch and oil.

The quote I got from a non dealer is £120-£160 for the parts and £200 for the labour for 4-5 hours of work. = £360-£400.

Not only is this a common problem for the Peugeot 107 but they seem to want an excessive amount to solve the problem that they know is down to the design of the car. The problem that will be recurring every 10-20k cycle. These cars are suppose to be urban friendly and save you money. But every 18-24months you will have to pay an extra £600-£950 to run? Not economical.

If Peugeot want to maintain themselves as a value brand and survive an already negative brand association. These things need to be addressed.

I will be taking the car to my local Peugeot dealer in Oldham (RRG) on Spencer Street
Off Manchester Road.

Let's see what the evaluation and quote is, in the morning. Oh and by the way, I have reported this to watchdog. Anyone else who suffers this concurring problem, do something about it, get your voice heard. Report this to Watchdog http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/.

I have just taken my 107 to a registered Peugeot dealer and been quoted £700 for a new clutch and bearing joint.  My car is 4yrs old with 36580. miles on the clock.  They told me this is very unusual for the bearing to go, but from what I can see on the posts here, it looks like a very similar problem. Evil or Very Mad

I think its only in low numbers because their are only so many auto cars out their, I reckon if the amount of them on the road was higher, it wouldn't be so unusual.

Hi guys,

I joined this forum, after owning the little Pug 107 about 9months, bought it with 21k on the clock on a 10plate, so now 4years old with 31000 on the clock, and last week got the beeping! Found that if I don't press the accelerator more than about 20% i don't get the beeping but obviously going up duel carriage ways at 28-34mph isn't really cutting the mustard just to avoid beeping! I'm a pretty steady driver and it beggers belief that this happens at such low millage in cars that I imagine by their nature are driven by generally speaking fairly steady drivers, you know theirs a reason I drive a 107 - because I'm not made of money!

I havn't been in touch with Peugeot yet, but it seems pretty standard to expect to pay about 800 for this. Can anyone recommend a decent alternative garage in the Castleford/Leeds/Wakefield area?

Also should I still be driving or stick it in the drive till I get it booked in somewhere?

Cheers.
