My User Manual/Handbook (2005 model) says (Page64):

"In order to make it easier to open the doors, the window lowers automatically by a few centimeters.

It rises and adjusts automatically when the door is closed to provide perfect sealing"

My new-to-me 206CC does not do this. Just wondering if anyone else's does, or is the book wrong?

Hi, I have a 52 206CC and mines doesn't do this, but my book also doesn't mention it' but that could be down to the difference in age, but unless they have change the design, which I don't think they have, there is no where for the window to go once the door is closed so why would it move! I also own a Passat CC, which does do this, but there is a recess in the roof par for the window to go into, so it makes sense on that! Hope this helps in some way!

Thanks for your reply. The bit about auto movement of window with door opening and closing appears in the Handbook issues covering cars from 11/04 to 3/06, but not in earlier or later issues. Perhaps it was a bright idea that never made it into production.

I had an issue with the door not wanting to close unless the window was lowered a bit. However, I have resolved it by putting a shim behind the upper hinge, and lowering the window assembly in the door, and it's good as new now, so I agree that the mythical facility really isn't needed.
