Hello folks.Got my 407 1.6 hdi back with new clutch and flywheel today at a cost of 800 . My car is 05 reg and has done 92k with FPSH. The only real difference is the rattle when I turned off the engine has gone and the cars transmission feels smoother and quieter although it was not that bad before really. The centre parts that damp out vibes have broken ( seem to be a hard type of plastic) and the mechanic said that it must have got very hot once and that heat weakened and cracked this plastic part in the centre. Over time this slowly broke up until it failed totally.I would like to add that the prices for the parts seems to vary a lot so be sure to ring around for the best deal if you have the need as I got clutch and DMFW for 305 plus VAT. Fingers crossed now and my advice to other owners is get any strange noises investigated ASAP. Hope this helps someone out there and dont have nightmares, its part of the fun of ownership.

Hi, I wasnt sure if it would cause any problems with peugeot or anyone else posting factors names on here but if its not allowed someone will have to remove the posting.Euro car parts were my supplier(fast and efficient) . Apparently they can sell these parts at a good price as they sell loads of DMFW kits. We can all draw our own conclusions from  this. The kit I bought was OE valeo as was the old one.Hope this helps.

I have a 407 2.0 HDI which is making a lot of noise on the clutch.  The dealer is telling me that I will have to have the whole kit changed at a cost of 700? I have also been given information that it may not be the clutch but the flywheel (more expense!) Is this covered under warranty?  I only have 32000 miles on the clock?

If it's under tree years old and done less than 60k then Peugeot usually pay up, but not always.

My DMFW on my 407 2.0HDi has just failed after only being replaced 26,000 miles ago.
I've now had to pay out 816 at an independent garage (1,200 at Local Peugeot dealer) for a clutch and DMFW because Peugeot will not replace the DMFW.
The dealer says because I had the DMFW replaced under the cars 60k warranty, which has now run out, they will not replace it.
Now get this... If I had paid for the DMFW, they would have replaced it!!
It still cost me 766 for the clutch and labour when they first replaced it back then on 56,000 miles.

my clutch and my flywheel need to be replaced on my 407.its a 2004 model.Ive managed to get my hands on a relatively new 307 flywheel for nothing.Ive been told by a mechanic(he is not a peugeot mechanic by the way)that this will also do for the 407.just wanted to check with ye first if this is true because i know what a big and costly job it is to replace a flywheel and dont want to have to do it twice in a short space of time?thanks guys
