Unblock Diesel Filter and Anti Pollution Fault » Peugeot 807 forum » Peugeot Central

Hi All who might be having the above fault. JUst wanted to share some good news with you all.
I bought my 807 in August from a 2nd hand dealer in Somerset. When I drove it away it came up with the above warning messages. After a long drive on the motorway it never appeared again. But then it started to come back every so often. Then recently it would come-up every time I went into 2nd gear with great loss of power and white smoke bellowing out the back every so often.

I asked a few local garages whether they could do something about this, but they all said it's a dealer job, as they have to reset alot of things. They all told me a new filter would cost at least £1000. I called a nearby Peugeot Dealer (near Brent Cross) They first said it would cost me about £300-£450 to get it sorted. Then when I was ready to book the car in they said it would cost £1200 - as the filter needs to be replaced every 50,000 miles. I called another Peugeot dealer, and this time I asked to speak to someone in the workshop. And they told me a new filter costs £180 -He said the cost of filters had come down in price considerably recently. Of course there are the additives and other things they need t do which would bring the cost up to £400-£500.

I booked the car in with the dealer who was going to charge less. It turned out that a sensor on the fuel filler cap was faulty. They replaced the sensor and did a few re-generations of the diesel filter and bingo! All works well. Total cost £270. No more warning messages and the car has great power and no white smoke.

What I have learnt from all this is - never trust what all Peugeot dealers say - they all say different things. Some would rather replace parts than work out what is really wrong with your car.

Red807 - why not publish the details of the dealers on the Forum? Then others can decide whether to use a certian dealer or avoid based upon your experience.

By popular request, below are the details of the 2 dealers I spoke to:

Robins and Day Brent Cross London were the dealers who wanted to charge me £1200.

Robins and Day Chiswick, London were the ones who fixed the problem for £270.
Very professional and friendly service - I was well impressed.

Thanks. Always useful. Especially if is made known to dealers. Then again, most of them couldn't give a damn.....................or am I being too cynical Question
