I have a 307 HDI 110 bhp 2003 car.

The heater blower has just stopped working.

My Car has AIRCON but not with climate control.

I have checked all the fuses, removed the front panel and checked for bad connections with no luck.

The Fan switch seems to work fine, because when i press the aircon button to the on position nothing happens, but as soon as i switch the fan on to speed 1,2,3,4 the aircon electro magnetic drive clicks in ( But no blower fan )

I sent the car into Peugeot to have the Cam belt replaced, and the particulate fluid topped up and asked them to look at the heater blower wile they had the car.

Now they did a good job of the ccam belt change but the heater problem became a bit of a shock.

The mechanic stated the the resister was faulty and the loom wanted replacing

Aprox £35 for resistor wire thing
Aprox £35 for the wire loom

But this is the shock £600 to fit the 2 parts because the dash needs removing to fit loom apparently.

The £600 is Labour 8 hour job.

Dose anyone have any information on this issue or any tips.

I am willing to replace the items myself but I dont want to remove even more dash  than required.

Gosh Peugeot do have some strange problems

Particulate Fluid and Filter

Wire Loom for heater ( what is this all about lol )

Any advice grately recieved.

Thanks
Richard

the wiring loom isnt just for the heater, its for the entire car! Laughing (Cheap it may be)

If you've ever tried to do anything behind the dash (like me!) you'll realise just how much of a bitch it is. I could barely get my hand in some places....

Labour, especially Peugeot labour is very expensive. Go elsewhere (a pug specialist mind!) and you'll get it cheaper. If your not concerned about your history of course!

never had my Particulate filter replaced so cant comment, but if you read the threads here, you'll see even more unusual problems! (touch wood i've had minor ones so far! Laughing )

Thanks for the reply its all good information

i can not understand why a wire loom would be broken on a 4 year old car

I have never seen this unless it was a burn out or short circuit thing melting looms ect.

I guess i should put a weekend to one side and buy the loom and resistor thing.

had same problems with mine, turned out it was the heater resistor and also burnt out the plug on the resistor too which is a common fault.now peugoet quoted over £500 to take out the dash etc which was the hard way.easy way to access it is through the glove box to the heater motor.any good autoelec will know of this problem with 307. also their is a part you will need to replace the plug you will need to get a facia harness and use the plug from it. ie cut off old and use part of the new harness

Thnaks for your reply and advise.

I spent about 2 hours to trace the fault, Peugeot Would not give any pointer to the problem other than the loom was faulty and needed replacing, so had to rely on Haynes manual and avo meter.

Got there in the end and developed a clear understanding how the resister worked with the loom in question.

The resister was not burnt out but the conection on the plug to the resister had become hot and damaged the connection.

I cleaned the connection up added a little copperslip to the spade connectros and re-fitted the loom plug to the resistor.

Fan was now working.

This fix did last for about 3 weeks but my wife did say last week it had stopped again.

I was not to concerened this time becasue i knew where the fault was and i had a fix in place.

Last weekend I gained access to the plug and resistor and cut the damaged plug off the wire loom,

I then soldered 5 wires directly to the 5 spade conectors on the resistor aprox 6" long and placed plastic sleves over each spade.

These 5 wires had block conectors attatched to the individual wires.

I then attatched the wires that where exposed after removing the plug off the wire loom by the block connectors.

The block connectors and wires fitted into the space avove the resister without any problems.

The heater now works without any problems.

Hopefully this will be the end of the heater wire loom problem.

Fixed !!!!

50p for block connector from wilco's lol
