Do you know which box it is?
Is it the old 4 speed or the 6?

I dont deal with many of them, I thought there was a bolt/plug to be removed.
Dont quote me on that, really cant remember.

Its the new 2006 6 speed one, I would rather do it myself if its pretty straightforward
Every now and then the engine revs seem to increase to 3000 revs, then it clunks into the next gear in DRIVE but if you switch to TIPTRONIC all is well ??
So I thought I would start by checking the fluid level

hi,,i doubt the oil level is the issue, and is not straight forward to check anyway.

to check the level you first have to add 0.5 litres of oil,run up to a cetain temp, then go to drain plug and measure/watch flow rate out of box, until such time as a small trickle comes out.
that is then the correct level.

id guess at a valve body/pressure fault in the box.
post last 8 of chassis and i can check better.

Toddy.

Thats not exactly a precision system Smile

Could you not drain it all out and fill with the coreect amount?  Some auto boxes on other vehicles seem to use that system.

Its a 2006 2.7 Hdi Auto with 50,000 miles on it, it runs fine most days but every now and then you get a small power surge and the auto box clunks as if you are kicking down ??
Got some numbers off the car
10707CJ 30065 KNJD 06200065
VF36JUHZJ21456416
Everything else is fantastic just a bit worried as this is a gearbox problem !!
Anyone else had something like this ??

Cheers

I think your best bet would be to find out what the warning was indicating via a diagnostic tool.  They are pretty comprehensive from that ECU.
