Hi all,

I have a few small questions/issues. i have a 307 1.6 Petrol 2001

1. My 307 normally runs around 90C except when on the motorway and it drops to about 80-85c. the two previous cars i had although not a 307 always sat at the same temperature. Is this normal? Or does this indicate a thermostat issue?

2. When accelerating hard i.e onto a motorway i quite often get a misfire in 3rd or 4th gear. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this. It only seems to occur when under harsh acceleration and in gears 3 or 4.

3. fuel consumption. Can anyone else with the 1.6 petrol let me know what sort of mileage they get before the fuel light comes on i'm getting around 370 miles but it just seems a tad low for the quoted mpg etc!

Many thanks

Rob

1. Sound fine.

2. That could actually be a plug issue, not firing at higher compression / temp

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Thats grwat obviusly the temperatures different to my older car. It was just this happened when the thermostat went on me once before as it got stuck open.

i've bought some more plugs as they did look a bit worn. I've read that the 4 ping ones are better for the older car too so i thought i'd give this a go. hopefullly it will help.

Having changed the plugs and run it for a week or so. I still get hesitation under acceleration. It also seems to be happening pulling away.

The thing that did concern me however was that when i changed the plugs there was oil on the threaded bit? any ideas where this may be coming from? Its only the thread bit that has oil. the bottom of the plug didn't seem to show signs of oil being burnt. There is no smoke coming from the car either?
