When cruising between 1600 and 2200 RPM with constant accelerator pedal position the engine power is not constant but it is surging or pulsating. It is a sine wave like oscillataion not an abrupt on-off thing, and the period time can vary between about 3 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
Had a specialist look at it and mis-diagnosed it as fuel lines and fuel filter - changed at great expense
Then Citroen garage looked at it and said EGR valve, they changed this but couldn't program it.
Then Peugeot garage programmed the new EGR and its still exactly the same problem and I'm over 800 worse off.
Please does anyone know whats wrong with it?

I would be looking at particulate filter differential pressure (how blocked it is), intercooler oil contam, and also check for intercooler pipe leaks.

I've had that on countless vehicles.

The customer often complains of not being able to drive constant at 30mph in 4th.

What problem was that? Did you get it fixed ok?

When I had it checked out by the 'specialist' he did a forced regen on it and it didn't do any good.

A forced regen must be backed up with measured data to ascertain its effectiveness.

I dont see it being linked to the DMF personally.

hi i have had the same problem with my 307 136 sw and after taking it to peugeot main dealer they couldnt find a problem so as i am a mechanic i decided to check it all out myself . I traced the fault to the variable rate turbo unit sticking and over compensating itself also the turbo control solinoid was faulty and contained oil , I replaced the control solinoid and vacume pump and striped and cleaned the turbo unit which has solved the problem , You should get it code checked and see if it comes up with turbo boost preasure fault .  However it does seem that not too many mechanics and garages including main dealers know a lot about this engine set up as my local main dealer couldnt get the infomation from poeugeot that i needed for checking out the control system

I paid quite a bit to a local specialist to problem solve it, they had the car a week changed the fuel lines and filter housing and didn't know what was wrong with it. I'm not that mechanically minded, how do I test for these things or can some recommend a garage that will know?
