Hi,

I own a 52 307 HDi. I've had various problems in the past, one of which was a anti pollution fault, twice(car ran at a default mode) . It appeared to be bad fuel as i ran the tank down and used shell, it cleared within a minute - all was well for 4-5 months!
Now with the cold, the car is a bit rough starting, takes a good few turns.....then when its up and running, it's VERY lumpy, if i lay off the gas say when coming up to a junction the rev's drop down too low and the car will stall, but will start easier then before when cold. when the car warms up after 5 minutes the lumpiness will go and the car will start easy when warm. But at all times the car remains underpowered, struggling to get over 3- 3500 rpms, like default, but no fault is displayed on the screen.

I get a bit of greyish white smoke when starting cold. Any ideas, i suspected knackered glow plugs and maybe fuel filer blocked, but now i'm not sure, i've read alot of injector problems.

Thanks for any opinions in advance.

Chris.

I would doubt the Anti Pol fault was related to the fuel - more coincidence I'd guess.

Glow plugs wont be related - not really used in this country (I guess a little in this weather but its not really that cold)

I would more be looking at injectors from your description; however it really needs diagnosing properly - injector adapations and leak off would be a good start.

What about the air flow meter, i presume this would cause my faults, excessive fuel burn (grey smoke) lumpyness and stalling on cold, surely the air flow meter controls the amount of fuel, idle, cold start vale (if fitted) and so on? How can i test it? I have heard these can pack up.

If the MAF wasnt functioning correclty the systems would be more lack of power, poor to increase in RPM not white smoke.

They are difficult to test without a scope.

It doesnt control idle, and there is no cold start valve.
