Peugeot 306 Engine Swap - Immobiliser Issue

Hi. My Peugeot engine let me down the other week, breaking a con rod and therefore the whole engine! I've fitted out a replacement engine, but I understand from the internet that there is an issue with getting a different fuel injection pump to talk to the car’s immobiliser system. I really don’t want to have to change pumps, but if I have to, I want to do it before the engine goes back in the car. I considered swapping the wiring looms around the pump, but I've looked at the wiring and can get to all of it bar one wire that goes inside the pump assembly and I can’t get to the end of it.

I have a couple of questions I'm hoping a diesel expert can answer: -

1. Is this story on the internet true, or can I put the new engine and pump in my car, and it will work fine?

2. Is there anyway I can swap the wiring loom around the pump assembly to keep the original pump’s wiring loom?

3. If I have to swap the whole pump, can I do it in my garage sufficiently to get the engine running and take to a garage for fine tuning of the timing?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated, I'm looking to wrap this project up, but this is an unexpected hitch.
