I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 1999 peugeot 306 2.0 hdi meridian state. I was driving and the car cut out and i first thought i had run out of diesel as the fuel light was on and the needle was in the red. So i got towed home as i was only a couple of miles away. this morning i out some diesel in and tried to bleed the system to no avail. I lifted up the rear seats and found the in-tank pump wasnt making any noise so i quickly bypassd it with a direct 12v from another battery and the pump works fine. but when the wires a reconnected it doesnt. this includes with the ignition on and cranking the engine over. thanks

I've come across the loom breaking that feeds it.

Have you removed the pump to check the actual fuel level?
I am wondering if the sender is working either.

You shouldnt need to bleed the system at all. What exactly did you do?

I put 10 pounds worth of diesel in and it registers on the dashboard fuel leval so the sender is working. To bleed the system i started by cracking off one of the injectors, but noting came out. I then cliped off one of the white tiped fuel lines( diesel fron the tank) and manually drew the diesel through. But even when the fuel line was full of diesel and i tryed cranking it over no diesel came through. The in pump tank definatly has a wiring problem as it works when i apply direct current to it with a spare battery. I dont know if this will help but 30 seconds before it cut out i went through a large puddle so that could of dislodged some wiring or sprayed water on a relay etc. Does the fuel pump have a relay? and where do the wires from the pump go so i can check for splits. Is there any way i can run a wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the relay to maybe bypasss the wire? But where is the relay thanks loz

Have you tried pressing the fuel cut off button under the bonnet.  it's a big red button near the battery area.

Could of tripped out when you went through the water.

btw, the engine hasn't sucked any water up has it? you checked to see if the air filter is dry?
