Having further issues with power steering pump, about 5 months ago found main electrical connector had rusted causing damage to the power terminals to the pump and wiring. Managed to get a new pump with part of the wiring loom as well from a scrap yard, pump changed and wiring soldered, and all has worked well without issue. Very Happy

About a month ago but as an intermitent fault the ABS light would come on the speedo and rev counter would go back to zero and various lights on the dash board etc. But after restarting the engine the fault would disappear. As time has gone by i started to get the power steering fault (no power steering) but not at the same time as the ABS fault.

Tonight the steering failed but as i pulled away it started to work, during the journey the ABS fault (as above) came on after restarting at a set of lights the steering has failed.

Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions, I have looked at the wiring diagrams and the power steering pump and the ABS seem to be linked but don't understand how.

aye the power steering works whenever it gets vehicle speed which comes from the abs ecu, so your problem could be caused by the abs.

youd need some diag equipment on it to get some fault codes

The signal from the ABS ECU must come in all the time as the power steering is on at rest, is there a way to check this signal?

Also is it possible for me to get the codes out? what would i need and is it fairly easy to workout what the codes mean?

wouldnt be that easy to check without some gud diagnostic equipment and youl need it to get yur fault codes from abs system.

where u situated? mite be sum 1 on here in yur area that culd point u in the direction of sum1 with peugeot planet computer or similar diag equipment

for the codes u want to get u need peugeot planet hope this helps how good is ur battery as this can lead to all sorts of problem and quit a few batterys have been giving problems with the really bad cold weather not saying it causing ur problem but just check.

The car seems to start ok etc, but i could have the battery checked i guess.

Does anyone have any further info on the wiring etc. So that i can try and eliminate some areas.

wuld be a bit of a journey 4 me to plug my laptop with peugeot planet in, im across the water in n.ireland. someone might get back to u if they no any1 in yur area.

u said about the corrosion in yur power supply plug, did u check the other 16 way black plug. these are all the inputs and outputs for the pas pump. also check how gud yur earth is behind the d/s/f headlight. we had a recall on them for the corrosion in the connectors and on the earth terminal to the body

After an afternoon under ontop and besides the car i have found the following info.

There seems to be 12V at the main power steering pump connector, i have checked the I/O connector and all seems to be ok.

BUT!!!! there is one cable which joins the ABS ECU and the power steering pump on pin 4 at the pump end cable number 6739W what is this cable an input or an output, what i can say is that there is no voltage on it.

If that is the input from the ABS ECU i guess that would stop the pump working right???

Any help would be great, also how hard/costly is it to change the ABS ECU??

i think that wire is the vehicle speed output wire from the abs ecu so u prob wont get any voltage without gettin vehicle speed. try testing it and get someone to spin any wheel with the ignition on.

the abs ecu isnt hard to change, its only bolted on to the front on the abs hydraulic block but if u changed it from another car it mite need configured, different engine, different size of tyres etc.

get me the last eight of yur chasis number and il ave a look at a wiring diagram and see mate
