I have been having problems with my car for over a year now, main issue is with the gearbox. Gearbox will be fine for days, a week, then it will start over revving when overtaking and missing gears, then when it finds the gear it engages with a loud clunck.
It has been into a Peugeot/Citreon Garage and they have told me that the gearbox only had 2 lites of oil in the gearbox when there should be 4! On asking whether there were leaks etc i was told that there was no sign of any and that the extra oil would make a difference, still the same.
Can anyone advise a course of action? As an additional issue (may be connected i don't know) engine does not seem so responsive as it was and the MPG has not moved above 32 mpg for the last 6-8 weeks - i used to get high 30s and low 40s, again can anyone help.

PS: The car has had all the required services and has covered approz. 52,000 miles.

Mmmm, interesting. The gearbox on your car as far as I know is sealed, so no oil in or out. Not sure how the garage deduced it only had 2 litres in it??

Mine occasionally over revs but only in Sport mode, so I just assume its down to crappy software!

An old post but I have a 2.7HDi coupe with a similar gearbox problem. 88000km. Manifests itself when hot, surges in the gears, whines in 6th and clunks a lot at low speed. Prognosis from a specialist repairer - low oil pressure due to valve body malfunction. remanufacture transmission. Cost R35767 or about 3,000 BPS. Does this sound reasonable? Shocked

Im not impressed - a 'box should last much longer that this.
