Rotational intermitent squeaking from engine?

hey it sounds like you have the same car and same problem as mine lol, if you put your head fairly close to the engine on the drivers side and rev it a little bit and you hear the squeek or a whiring sound that speeds up with the engine speed close ish to the alternator i would say its the cambelt tensioner in which case get the cambelt and tensioner replaced asap and dont use it untill it has been done because if the tensioner fails it will break the cam belt and destroy the engine, i hope this helps

Just bought a 308 - overheating problems

Hello everyone,

So earlier today I completed a deal on a 2008 Peugeot 308 1.6 120bhp. It test drove well, good price and full of options.

So fast forward and it's overheating! We drove from the garage to the supermarket and all was fine however once I re started the car the temp scale shot to max, warning signs displayed and we switched the engine off. After a few seconds I restarted the engine and all was fine, temp started at max and quickly settled.

So, drove back from the supermarket to home and again all was well until I restarted the car and the problem remained, albeit for a few seconds again. Coolant level is fine, just simmering over max by the looks of it.

I plan to return to the garage tomorrow but was hoping for some advise. Could this be a major call for concern?

I did find a receipt for a maf sensor some 500 miles ago when it looked like it was replaced due to cooling issues.

Any advise?

307 2.0 HDi 136 bhp single audible warning & ign cut out

Hello
Hope anyone can give me a heads up on my problem

307 2.0 HDi 136 bhp 2006

When I put the key in the ignition and wait for the dash lights to go out (the diesel pre-heat light,,etc) then turn the key to fire the engin I get a single audible warning and the ignition cuts out and the dash panels all appear to reset. This doesn't happen all the time and normaly only in the morning when it does.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Question about the trip computer

Hello all, i have a question about the 308's trip computer:

I have the diesel edition (e-HDI) 112 hp 9HR-82S with the 6gear manual gearbox.

In the trip computer above the radio, when I initiate my trip and start driving, after a few seconds the trip computer disappears. As a result, I cannot see the instant consumption or the average consumption or the trip timer or the average speed.

Is this somekind of default of 308? Specifically I am interested to check the instant fuel consumption.

308's manual didn't mention something about that. Any ideas from anyone? Would appreciate it.

Thx

could i have had a' EUREKA' moment regarding p00c0

Just to keep those interested up to speed, the part turned up on Wednesday WRONG ONE (different number) but tried it anyway (BSI board what a pig to do) did not work.
I am now in dispute with NCS Peugeot Citreon spares, having a war of words trying to get my money back CAVEAT EMPTOR. I can't say too much on this as i have to wait until Parts Gateway have tried to resolve the situation.

So what i have done is sent my ECU away to be re-furbished they should have it today Friday, i should get it back by next Friday and be £300.00 poorer, but fingers crossed that should be the end of that. I will let you know as and when.

I will probably start a new (factual) thread about my experience with NCS and Parts Gateway, but it may get pulled by the mods i don't know, we will see.

                                         Thanks, Graham.

207 1.4 8fs accelerator issues

Hi can someone please clarify my thinking? I have been given a 207 to look at as it idles fine but when u go to accelerate it stumbles and sometimes cuts out, it has no fault codes but the lad said he had a accelerator pedal fitted but never had it programmed I think this is the issue and maybe the pedal is now defective as it wasn't programmed before it was started.
It's a 2008 207 1.4 engine code 8fs

Thanks pete

407SW 2.0 Hdi wont stall!

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a 407SW 2.0HDi on a 2005 plate. This is my first diesel car and was wondering if anyone can help with what I think is an unusual problem.

The car has done 54000 miles with full Peugeot service history. The problem I have is that the car wants to race on in each gear if I let it. Let me explain further. Pulling away in first gear with no gas at all I can change to second and the car will pull forward until it reaches a certain speed, again with no gas applied. I can do this in every gear with no foot on the accelerator and the car will not stall! It just keeps on driving until i put my foot on the brake them it labours quite quickly. I can change gear normally in most circumstances but it is unnerving when going down the gears expecting to slow down and on occasions it speeds up! The car has no warning lights showing and ticks over at around the 700 RPM mark. Is there any particular symbol or sign that I should be looking for on the dash?

Knowing very little about diesels I am assuming that if no gas is applied it should at some point stall in the higher gears such as third and forth as any petrol engine would.

Is this a gear box problem? An engine management problem or something to do with filters etc etc?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I take it to a dealer, at least I can go armed with some sort of reference point.

Thanks in advance.
