Hi guys,

Im new here and found your forum from google. Ive been looking to upgrade my 1.1 to something quicker and as im still young insurance is a killer!

Ive been looking at VTR's on ebay and they go for around 500 damaged. I was wondering if everything from that car is interchangeable to my car. All i would want really is the running gear, engine, brakes, wiring loom and ecu. Would this all fit into my car? Im fairly competent with mechanics and i think would take me around 3 days to transfer everything over.

Your help is much appreciated and please tell me and flaws in my plan!

Thanks
Ben

Why am i going to be needing to weld and cut? Thought all the engine mounts where the same? I do have a welder in the family so i should be stuck there, but i dont see what will need welding? Any other difficulties that you can see?

Cheers
Ben

Even if i put all the running gear from the VTR into the 106? I.e the brakes, hubs, suspension the whole lot. Surely then it will be a VTR running gear/chassis with a 106 shell?

this is one of the easiest conversions you can do.

I saw one come in to my local car specialist (here if you fancy a sniff) and they usual remove the old and fit the new within a day.

did you not know that the 106 and the saxo are the same cars?

only difference is the engines. Although as standard the 106 handles better and is built to a better quality (just!)
