Hi everyone, wonder if anyone can help me??? I have a 1.5 D 106 R plate and last week the ignition barrel went - so my other half changed it but now the car wont start - the barrel seems ok it powers up the dash, but when it trys starting it just churns and wont start - we have tried jump starting it incase the battery needed a boost after sitting for a week but it still just churns and churns and...... Any help would be very much appreciated.

Great site you have looks very good and is very user friendly...... just thought I'd add that bit!

hi there
when he changed the barre did he also replace the key  Question
if he did and you do not have a key pad code system ( i dont think you have) then the new key needs to be progarmed to match the engine ecu Surprised
hope this helps

hiya FML
Thank you V much,.... I dont have a keypad, yes it does have a different key, but the new key is a different shape its thinner than the old key, i dont think there is any room for any electrics inside the new key. Is there anyway of bypassing the ECU?

Thanks sooo much for your help

ok try this first
even though the 1.5d does not have a full blown ecu as such it still has a passenger compartment protection unit of sorts which opens the fuel cut off valve on the diesel pump. the transponder chip is very small and i think the key does have one  Confused
so, how about swaping the origional blck bit from the old key to the new one, a small scew holding the blade in or just a push fit Very Happy
give that a go
if you cant then the key will need to be programed at a dealer
