Hi all,

i have a 1994 (M) 405 1.9 TD GLX estate, i've had a look in the radiator and there is lots of oil in there. There is no water in the oil, no white smoke, no fizzing in the radiator and no loss in performance, so hopefully not the HG. I'm going to check the oil cooler again as i have recently replaced it, but where else could this quantity of oil get into the coolant system.

Thanks In Advance

Paul

cooler would be my first thoughts, Is it the alloy cooler that's fitted, and was it a second had unit you recently fitted?

Only other thing is the gasket!!

I assume you know how to check the cooler for leaks?

Yes its the alloy one and yes its second hand so definitely worth a look then.

NOOOO not the gasket!!  Sad

I assume i tested it right the last time. Disconnet the two hoses from the top and connect them together, then run the engine and see if any oil comes out of the top of the cooler. Or is there another way?

Thanks for your response.

Yup that's how i do it,  sometimes it's only a pin prick so you need the engine right upto full temprature so the oil  is nice and warm.

Basically they don't always leak when the engine is cold/oil is thick etc...
