Hi,
I have a Peugeot 405 which has trouble starting. A garage told me it is the fuel pump that has failed but I now don't trust their expertise. Last time I attempted to start it a few years ago it only eventually started after a lot of cranking, priming the bulb and also someone held an airline in the fuel tank to attempt to blow the fuel to the engine. After this the car would start fine provided it wasn't left too long, presumably because the fuel would drain back to the tank. The car is now off-road so I can't move it without a low loader so was wondering if it does sound like the fuel pump has gone or if there is just a blockage somewhere? It is a 405 1.9 GLX Turbo Diese Estate 1996.
