Hello, i replaced my key covers since the one of the two buttons came off, and since then i cant start the engine.

When i use my second key which doesnt have open/close buttons it will start the engine. Also, when i start the engine with the spare key, switch it off and put the fob key it will normally start the car. This will do only for a short period. If i switch off the car and try again like in 10 minutes it wont start again, so i need to use my second key again.

Just to mention, when i tried this the first time i thought the car ran out of fuel so i insisted and as a result the car battery run out. So i thought it would have been a key problem, so i  started it with jumpers and then i tried my second key and it was ok.

The doors open/close with the key buttons aswell

What would be the problem and the solution anyone? Smile

Hi

where did you get your new key from??

Problem ........................ new key has not been coded and the vehicle does not recognise it and will not authorise start

solution......................... take car to dealer or specialist have them re code all keys ( so take them all with you) .............. you will also need the transponder code if you dont have it already , ( its on a blue credit card with a scratch off label)

sorted    Very Happy

Hi Mate

yeah you should have a chip that sits in the bottom part of the key at the front left hand side as you look down its rectangular shape with one rounded side ,  , this is what authorises start , without it no go , hope you havent lost it , if you have you need a new fob from pug
